Gambling Resources
Gambling and Youth
While adults tend to gamble in bingo halls, casinos and race tracks or purchase tickets from the corner store, youth usually gamble with friends or family. Playing cards or video games for money, buying raffle tickets, betting on who is going to win the next game, is gambling. Most youth don't feel they are gamblers but have been gambling for years.
Researchers are looking closely at the ways in which youth gamble, noting that youth gamble problematically two to five times more than adults. They have also learned that many adults who have gambling problems, began gambling as children.
